According to the latest Stat’s Canada report on food and other selected items. Good News! The cost of condensed milk, sugar and canned soup has gone down in price since 2010. Bad news is that the other 53 items on the list have increased – some by almost 40%.
Remember the CD Howe Report in May that stated “the products consumers buy on a regular basis were 27 per cent more expensive in Canada than the United States in 2011. The price of food was 57 per cent higher, and the price of the milk, cheese and eggs was 77 per cent higher.” http://www.cdhowe.org/nicholas-li-the-best-way-to-lower-canadian-prices-ottawa-citizen-op-ed/25943
Well take a look at the Stat’s Can numbers comparing costs from 2011 – 2014. Nothing is changing. http://www.statcan.gc.ca/tables-tableaux/sum-som/l01/cst01/econ155a-eng.htm
Cheer Up! It’s not all bad news. Wagyu Beef is on sale this week at $59.99/lb – fire up the BBQ!
Man does not live by condensed milk alone!
