Heading South – Stock Up on Chuck

If you off to your Florida retreat via Buffalo I encourage to stop in at the new Trader Joe’s on Niagara Falls Blvd. in Amherst beside Barnes & Nobel. For those of you heading west you are probably already familiar with this chain as they have a history in Arizona, Nevada and Texas. In addition to a wide variety of specialty and gourmet items Joe’s is famous for its “two-buck Chuck” wines. After 11 years they recently raised the price to $2.49 a bottle, still a deal. The wine produced by the Bronco Wine Company, Joe’s sells about 5 million cases a year. A great value at under $30.00 a case.

And if you not so lucky to be heading south you can still bring a case or two back to Canada – With Duties, HST and Markup your looking at $3.50 a bottle by the time you get home.

If you’re palate is a bit more refined Joe’s has many more wines to choose from, most can be sampled first.
