This is the time of year that we (our wives) start to get in the Christmas mood and first order of business is to get the Christmas cards in the mail, especially the overseas ones. As we had already scheduled a trip to Buffalo yesterday I suggested she take the U.S. cards to post while down there. Well after a visit to canadapost.ca (Postes Canada) my suggestion was modified. Rates include HST on Canada Stamps.
Yeah it’s no surprise that a local U.S. Stamp would be less than mailing from Canada, $0.45 vs $1.18 CDN however for those cards to England how about $1.05 vs $2.03 CDN. If you do send cards back to Canada it will cost you $0.85 vs $0.68 for Canada Post unless however you go over the magic 30g Canada Post weight then price jumps to $1.18 and then it’s cheaper to mail from the U.S. to Canada.
