This one comes from Ron, he tells me that last winter he purchased a 90 day Season Pass to wash his car at the local PetroCanada, you remember these guys “Canada’s Gas Station”, it was a crown corporation that was suppose to control Canada’s gas prices. In August 2009, Petro-Canada merged with Suncor Energy, with Suncor shareholders receiving approximately 60 percent ownership of the combined company and Petro-Canada shareholders receiving approximately 40 percent. Sounds a bit like 407 Eh!
So Ron bought a Season’s Pass from PetroCanada last year for car washes at $169.00 (now $179.00) With the pass you could wash your car once a day for 90 days – not a bad deal at $2.12/wash including HST.
So Ron just get back from Niagara Falls, New York and sees that Delta Sonic offer a Monthly Car Wash pass as well have a monthly pass for $22.99 plus tax, for 90 days this equals $68.97 or $0.81/wash including tax. Savings $110.00
So why is PetroCanada so much more, Ron assumes it’s because there is more fresh water on the New York side of Lake Ontario! I think it’s probably the same thing as electricity – Ontario probably pays New York to take our excess fresh water!
So add a car wash at Delta next time you fill up during your cross border shopping trip.
