Last month I went down to NJ to visit our friends and decided to go via Buffalo and the New York State Thruway, a toll road. Starting at the Buffalo 50 entry point and exiting at Syracuse 36, Total Distance traveled was 150 miles (240km) Total Charge $6.18.
Just got this months ERT Bill Total Distance 202km (125mi) Total Charge $48.70
So it costs me $.22 a km more to go the same distance on the ETR than the NY State Thruway.
Ok now to add insult to injury; Gas in Toronto $1.22/ltr, Gas in Buffalo $.95/ltr ($3.62/gal) Based on my vehicles published numbers I get 8.2/ltr per 100km so my NY trip used 19.6 ltrs. At the difference in gas prices this cost me an additional $5.31 in gas as well. Trip now costs $.24 a km more to use ETR.
