J. Crew – Who needs you!

So if you have been reading all the press on J.Crew you know what’s going on. In response to same J. Crew president Jenna Lyons first responded to irate shoppers earlier this week with a letter explaining, “the change in cost for merchandise purchased in our stores and online was necessary to keep pricing consistent with our new – and expanding – retail operations in Canada.” My interpretation – We can charge you more! So we will!

J. Crew says it will drop the duty from items purchased on its new Canadian website.

So I thought I would test this out this morning using the same items I used in my first Blog – Guess What – No Change, For a lark I also tried out the “Ship to Japan” option – SURPRISE – It’s $112.00 cheaper to have the item shipped to Japan than Canada!

U.S. – Canada – Japan $446.02 – $532.44 – $423.00

Update – 5:00 PM

I received an email from “Mickey” at J.crew as follows….. I did recheck the website and the price for the article we have been referencing is still $532.44 to Canada vs $446.02 to Phoenix so not sure where the “clear reduction in total cost” is. Probably it’s the $25.00 Off of my next order that Mickey offered me as an e-gift.
